Listen up! Communication Untangled is back for series two

We’re so happy to be launching the second series of Communication Untangled, the podcast which explores the tiny facets of communication which influence our behaviour but often go unnoticed.

Together with expert guests, we untangle communication – helping you convey your ideas even more powerfully in your marketing, business or brand.

What’s coming up in series two?

26 March: Untangling Captions, with Microsoft’s Lead Accessibility Evangelist, Hector Minto. How AI is transforming the ability to create fast, accurate captions, with essential tips on making your content inclusive.

9 April: Untangling Instructions, with Cambridge Design Partnership’s Lucy Sheldon and Clare Beddoes. How do we make sure people understand how to use medical devices and use sound, touch and text to do so?

23 April: Untangling Votes, with Whitney Quesenbery, co-Founder of the US Center for Civic Design. How can we design voting slips to open up democracy to more people?

7 May: Untangling Notifications with sound designer Tuomas Ahva. Machines that go ping! Washing machines beeping aggressively when they’ve finished. Traffic lights beeping. The importance of sound in product design.

21 May: Untangling Tickets, with Lords and Wimbledon ticket designer Jules Akel. He tells us how to design tickets so the excitement builds months ahead of an event, and how digital tickets shouldn’t diminish this feeling.

4 June: Untangling Recipes with Ottolenghi chef and food writer Noor Murad. What are the conventions to writing recipes? How do they differ in Arabic and English, and how does she test them so she knows they work?

And along the way we’ll take a look at how you vote in the Oscars, the Disney approach to customer experience, and how LEGO makes instructions part of the act of play itself.

Launching exactly a year to the day from series one, it’s all produced by the excellent Rob Birnie at Made by DBM. And it comes out hot on the heels of the podcast we worked on with The Healthcare Improvement Institute, Listen to THIS. Listen to that, as well!

Thank you also to The Crane Event, who invited us to their new podcast studio in Cambridge to record the links.

How can you listen to the podcast?

It’s on all the main podcast platforms. Please visit our podcast page to hear episodes from series one and follow the links to subscribe. Don’t forget to give us 5-star reviews along the way!

Who’s the audience for Communication Untangled?

What we had in mind for this communications podcast was the sort of thing you’d hear on Radio 4 – interesting to an audience already into marketing, branding and design, but enjoyable to the casual listener too.

I want people to come away thinking, “Oh, I’ve never noticed this before!” and pick up new approaches they can apply to their business or brand.

A big thank you to all our guests and to Rob for putting it all together. I hope you enjoy series two! Do subscribe, share with friends, like, comment, engage….all the good stuff!
