Sookio turns seven. Celebrate with us!
Sookio is seven and we’re feeling so super! Alliteration aside, this birthday marks another year of huge leaps forward for Sue and the team, with new services, new clients and a shiny new home in Cambridge. What have been the highlights from the past year - and what fun lies ahead?
The rise and rise of the Sookio Masterclasses
Our flagship series of panel discussions on the topic of social media steamed ahead this year. Three more sold out events shared industry expertise of using social to boost brands with three more avid audiences. Guests from BuzzFeed, Jamie Oliver, B&Q and the Liberal Democrats made up just a small portion of our expert panels.
What’s next for the #SookioSocial phenomenon? Join us on Meetup for more big announcements further down the road. You can also join the Straight-talking social media group on LinkedIn or sign up for our mailing list.
Of course, none of it could have been possible without our fantastic panel guests and the Cambridge Brew House for providing the perfect, relaxed venue. Many thanks to you all!
Continued confident content
Even with the Masterclasses raising our profile dramatically, we haven’t rested on our laurels. We’ve focused on developing what we do best by adding video and design to the list of web content services we’re proud to offer. To that end, we’re proud to welcome Colin Ramsay and Adriana Kaneva to the Sookio team.
Our focus on every aspect of quality content has led us to doing a lot more SEO work this year. Our approach is always transparent and honest, building it into the work we do rather than just flogging magical SEO beans. In-depth audits backed up by our powerful reporting tools and bespoke advice to clients has helped build confidence in our approach to a topic that can sometimes seem obscure.
Training has also formed a major part of our schedule this year. Whether writing for the web, getting the most out of social or making it super-easy for search engines to find your site, we’ve been busy helping our clients upskill themselves and their staff.
To round everything up, we've also been recording our very own podcast. Every month we'll be bringing you straight-talking opinions and real examples from the world of digital content marketing. No mumbo-jumbo or vague theories, we promise. Have a listen right here, and subscribe to our YouTube channel for weekly snippets.
Old friends and new
Speaking of our clients, it’s been great to deepen our relationship with long-standing clients like Lürzer's Archive magazine, Renovation Insurance Brokers and healthcare brand Ateronon.
We’ve also renewed ties with past clients through developing a blogging strategy for global property experts Jones Lang LaSalle and creating web content for the National Centre for Universities and Businesses.
Of course, we always love welcoming new faces to our growing list of clients. Exciting projects with St Francis Hospice, Beardbrand, Aegate, the Open University, Italian furniture company Belvisi and music streaming service Psonar have broadened our horizons and made us feel very welcome in our new home....
Sookio’s new digs
Yes, how could we round up the last twelve months without mentioning our new premises?
We recently bid a fond farewell to Ely and set out for the bright lights of Cambridge. This move puts us in an ideal position to help brands in the city make the most of their online presence. Better transport links to London and beyond, more room to expand and we’re now just a short walk from the Salisbury Arms!
Of course, we couldn’t take everything with us when we packed. Creative Ely, a long-term fixture in the monthly Sookio calendar, has been passed into safe new hands along with its 400-strong membership.
We’re overjoyed to see how this fun, informal event has brought people together since being set up in 2012, and can’t wait to find out what new directions it’s set to branch out in. Be sure to join up and come along to a meeting.
Coming up...
Onwards and upwards we go! The next few months are all about sharing our expertise with friends across Europe. Sue has been talking social media crisis management at Cambridge Network and was invited by Cambridge University Press to offer insights into social media for their authors in a special Google+ Hangout.
Coming up! Sue will be boarding the Startup Britain Bus when it rolls into Cambridge and running a workshop at the Pro-Copywriters' Conference in October.
Rhia Chohan is off to Cannes Lions again to provide coverage of the festival for Lürzer's Archive, and their partner ADC Europe has invited Sue to join the Creative Express...which means she'll be in a cable car over the Austrian Tyrol, talking to students about making creative ideas thrive. Just a normal day in the office. More on this soon!
