We're behind the launch of new hub for the creative industries in Ely, Cambridgeshire, which kicks off in November 2012.

It's been a long time brewing, this one. As a co-organiser of CamCreative over the last four years, I've long recognised the need for something similar in Ely, where people can meet informally to build relationships, share experiences and hopefully start working on new projects together.

Ely may be small but there's a lot going on. There are so many creative people here, from photographers, artists and musicians to designers, writers, actors and more, but it feels sometimes like everyone's tucked away out of sight. Wouldn't it be great if we could stick our heads above the surface and get to know each other a bit more? Who knows what might happen!

So, the plan...

First meetup: let's introduce ourselves and talk a bit more about what we want from this thing. Then after that we could look at getting speakers, exhibition space...all sorts.

I'm also looking for people who will help on the organising front so we can really make something of this. Other than asking Rich Page from Blue Sky Design to put a lovely logo together and I've not done much so far except creating the Meetup group, Facebook and LinkedIn pages. It would be great to launch an accompanying website and to find people who can help put on the events and shape the future of the group.

And of course I'm on the lookout for sponsors who could help with printing costs and maybe even stick a few quid behind the bar!
