Sookio expansion continues! New hires, new roles, and a new arrival

The Sookio family continues to grow! We’ve been joined by some fantastic new team members in 2021 – plus there are exciting new roles for veteran Sookio staff and even a new arrival on the way.

It’s been a tricky time for many businesses, and at Sookio our rapid growth allows us to reach out and help more companies in need of our services.

There are exciting plans for 2022, and lots happening here at Sookio HQ…

New hires

We’ve been joined by some lovely new additions this year, with each of them bringing their unique skillset to Sookio:

Ed Grundy

Ed joined Sookio in November as the new Business Development Manager. He’ll be at the helm of all new business and sales enquiries, as well as working closely with Sue to develop additional revenue streams.

With a background in sales for publishing and events, Ed is the perfect fit for this role. He’ll draw on his rich local knowledge alongside his keen commercial acumen to help spearhead new client projects.

Naomi Vowles

Naomi joined Sookio as Copywriter in September, and in just two months she’s already crafted copy for a luxury hotel, an executive recruitment agency, and a concrete supplier; talk about variety!

Her well-rounded experience includes a Master’s degree in Advertising and Marketing Communications, and prior roles working agency, client-side, and freelance. In the New Year, Naomi is set to start taking an active role with Sookio’s training programmes.

Julia Latif 

Julia is Sookio’s new Administrator. She joins us as we say a fond farewell to former admin superstar Naomi, as she heads to sunny Manchester (we gave her a brolly as a leaving gift, just in case), and a cheery hello to Julia!

As well as her brilliant organisational skills, she also runs her own business, House of Spice. Her company is a finalist as Established Business of the Year in the upcoming Businesswomen Scotland Awards 2021. Fingers crossed!

New roles

Sookio’s Marisa Crimlis-Brown has become our new Head of Creative. This upgrade allows Marisa to make the most of her skills and experience, working in a consultancy role with clients, developing campaign ideas, and overseeing the output across social media and different content formats (including video and animation).

As well as her comms background in arts, culture, and education (through her prior senior role at Queen’s College, Cambridge and Kettle’s Yard), she also recently qualified for her certificate in Professional Digital Marketing from The Chartered Institute of Marketing.

With a dedication to lifelong learning and a can-do attitude, Marisa always brings fresh creative energy to each project.

Sasha Patchett joined us fresh out of Anglia Ruskin University in the summer and has now moved into a full-time role as Sookio’s Digital Marketing Assistant.

She’ll be stepping up to take on marketing responsibilities for the company, while also providing essential support to Marisa and Clark on social media campaigns, research, and reporting.

New arrivals 

We wish Sales and Marketing Manager Anna all the very best as she goes on maternity leave this month. And congratulations to our Head of Production Matt Harris on his marriage to the beautiful Nastya!

New year ahead

“I’m so proud of the way in which the Sookio team met the challenges of the pandemic head on,” says Sookio founder Sue Keogh. “It’s been an incredibly busy period for us, as we’ve supported clients through such a turbulent time and taken on sizeable new projects in the public sector, the arts and life sciences.”

Sookio’s progress shows no signs of slowing down in the New Year. “We went into the pandemic with 6.5 people, and have come out the other side with 10,” adds Sue. “A big welcome to the ‘Class of 2021’, and full steam ahead for 2022.”
