Celebrating six years of Sookio

It's a beautiful sunny Friday afternoon here in Ely, offering a moment to reflect on the way the company has moved forward in the last year. It's been busy...and it's getting busier!

Expanding the Sookio team

Our strategist, Alex, joined us in October and is a powerhouse of ideas, helping us devise imaginative and achievable web strategies for new and existing clients.

Web and social media editor Michelle's background is in cosmetics (read her blog Beauty and the Basics for helpful tips on perfecting your look!) She creates clickable content for our clients' websites and social channels.

Our copywriter, Rory, came to us from Spotify. He crafts creative copy for our varied set of clients, who range from wedding photographers to laboratory furniture specialists. Every day is different at our place!

And not forgetting the fabulous Rhia, who has been with us since 2009. She looks after web and social for Lürzer's Archive and content for the recently launched Feeling Fab website with Angie Greaves.

We were sad to say goodbye though to our editorial assistant and poet in residence, Jake, who left us in April for the wilds of the Midlands.

All this is overseen by Sue, who's in charge of developing the business and shaping the future of Sookio.

New clients and projects

Here are a few of the people we've started working with in the last year and some of the projects we've helped launch.

Government Digital Services, training editors from bodies such as the Charity Commission, Defra and HMRC in writing for the web and GOV.UK so they can move their content over to the new platform. 

The Centre for Science and Policy. Working with this department of the University of Cambridge to shape their communications strategy and maintain their relationships with academia and Whitehall.

Ateronon. Looking after the blog, newsletter and seven social media channels for the high-quality lycopene supplement known as the Tomato Pill, working alongside the PR Office and M&C Saatchi.

Feeling Fab. We've worked with the fabulous Angie Greaves for some years now and it's been so great to help with the launch of her Feeling Fab project, helping people to look great and feel positive.

Not Actual Size. We provide digital consultancy to this acclaimed London agency whose key clients are Nike and Dove.

Renovation Insurance Brokers. After creating the copy for their relaunched website, we began managing their social media channels and blog.

Sookio Masterclasses

We've had a lot of success with Sweet Retweets events in London and have had an idea buzzing around for a long time about doing something similar a bit closer to home. The plan was to offer events focusing on straight-talking social media to businesses in the Cambridge area.

Our first Sookio Masterclass event kicked off in April, and saw guests from Age UK, Grazia and the University of Cambridge, plus food blogger Miss Sue Flay, sharing their wisdom to a packed and enthusiastic audience.

What's next for Sookio?
